CISF Camp on Women’s Day

Indian Dental Association and ATTAC also supported the initiative.

UE LifeSciences, a technology enabled medical device company, in partnership with Indian Dental Association and ATTAC (Aim to Terminate Tobacco and Cancer Society), today organized a health camp for the CISF women officers of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) unit, to mark the International Women’s Day. The camp aimed at educating women on menstrual hygiene, breast health and breast cancer. They also conducted oral and breast cancer screening, along with health education sessions for the CISF women officers of the DMRC unit.

Breast cancer is on a rise across the world, but India is experiencing an unprecedented rise in numbers. Although, there has been an upsurge in the awareness campaigns, the impact on ground has been negligible, owing to lack of access to efficient and affordable detection techniques.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Sumedha Kushwaha, Public Health Expert, UE LifeSciences, said, India accounts for the third highest number of cancer cases among women, after China and the US, growing annually at 4.5-5%.We at UE LifeSciences, realize that it is very critical for women to regularly undergo cancer examination, in order to detect breast cancer at an early stage. iBreastExam, from UE Lifesciences is a FDA approved, battery operated portable device, which helps in painless, radiation free and quick detection of breast cancer. It doesn’t require specialised doctors to do the screening and can be operated by any health care worker. Our device will ensure that access to early detection of breast cancer becomes a ground reality, and many valuable lives are saved in a timely manner. We strongly believe that women empowerment ensures competitiveness, growth and above all, a better society for all of us.

“It gives me immense pleasure to join hands with UE LifeSciences, in celebrating International Women’s Day. Their efforts in educating our women workforce, on issues relating to breast health & menstrual well-being are highly appreciated. Through this initiative, we are glad to recognise and celebrate the role of women, as a significant force not only in our talent pool, but also in the larger community“, said Deputy Commandant, CISF unit, DMRC.
